Brad – the man

I first met Brad Pitt in 2011 when he was in Cancun at the annual Summer of Sony event. He came out of the elevator and I looked at my colleague who had just complained about the lack of handsome men in journalism thinking – well he was cute. It took a couple of seconds before we realized it was Brad… Anyway, he stayed for a few days at the same hotel and he brought four of his kids with him. He also brought his brother, who looks exactly like him, just a bit tanner skin and a few more pounds around the waistline (Brad is really skinny in real life). One day I had a lunch at the restaurant outside the hotel next to the family while Brad himself was busy giving interviews.

Marc Forster Reportedly WON’T Return To Helm WORLD WAR Z Sequel

World War Z was far from the big budget flop many expected, although it appears as if those reports about Brad Pitt and Marc Forster not getting along were completely true, as the Quantum of Solace director won’t be back for the sequel according to a new report.

We all know about the numerous reshoots and the need for a completely new ending, but another issue on the set of World War Z was apparently the fact that director Marc Forster and star/producer Brad Pitt weren’t getting along because of those production problems. The two completely stopped speaking at one point, although those involved with the film – which unexpectedly became a huge hit when it was released back in June – have strenuously denied this on more than once occasion. Well, in a report over at The Hollywood Reporter, they say that Pitt’s production company ARE working on a sequel, but “director Marc Forster won’t be back.” Pitt adds that, “We are talking about it. We are going to investigate a script. We have a lot of ideas we will cull from. Nobody is writing just yet, but we are compiling our ideas.” World War Z earned a worldwide total of $539 million, so expect to see a follow-up sooner rather than later!

David Fincher’s ‘Black Hole’ Back On At Brad Pitt’s Plan B

Not to be mistaken with the 1979 Disney film turned upcoming Joseph Kosinski remake, author Charles Burns’ “Black Hole” remains one of the great adaptations lying in wait. Published between 1995 and 2005, the highly acclaimed graphic novel drew attention from Hollywood immediately, with Paramount snagging the rights and putting Alexandre Aja to direct and the team of Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman to pen a script. In 2008, David Fincher replaced Aja as helmer, but Gaiman and Avary drifted away shortly thereafter. The project has since become another “what-if?” scenario; one of Fincher’s “lost projects” we hoped he would one day return to. And now looks like Brad Pitt and his production company Plan B is helping to make that happen.

Looking to the future following their Oscar contender “12 Years a Slave,” Pitt’s label Plan B has laid out an ambitious slate of projects (via THR), including the Andrew Dominik-directed Marilyn Monroe biopic, “Blonde,” an adaptation of Michael Hastings’ book “The Operators,” and most notably, a revived version of “Black Hole” with Fincher still attached. Burns’ book follows a group of Seattle teens in the 1970s who contract “The Bug,” an incurable sexually-transmitted disease that causes shocking mutations among them all.
