Brad Pitt ‘cared very much’ about Moneyball

TORONTO — As Brad Pitt enters the Bell Lightbox standing-room-only news conference, the flash of cameras around him is intense. But he seems remarkably at ease with the commotion.

He is, at least, familiar with frenzied fanfare. It follows him, his wife Angelina Jolie and their family of six, wherever they go.

Still, the 47-year-old seems pleased with his heralded return to the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s due to his baseball movie called Moneyball, featured as a festival gala on Friday, and opening theatrically Sept. 23.

So bring on the bright lights, the fans, and the hoopla, as sits with his cast to promote his latest venture.

“I care very much about the film,” said Pitt, explaining why he endures the relentless spotlight. “It’s part of our business. It’s not a new experience. It comes with the territory.”

Based on Michael Lewis’s non-fiction book, Moneyball follows the exploits of Pitt’s Billy Beane, the real-life manager of the Oakland As, who was forced to figure out a unique formula to staff his cash-strapped team in the early 2000s.
