Synopsis:
Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (a.k.a. Deadpool) assembles a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy with supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling cyborg Cable.
Trivia & Facts:
• Brad Pitt admitted that his small appearance satisfied his curiosities when it came to the world of superhero cinema. “I think I’ve taken it as far as I can take it,” Pitt revealed to MTV News about the role. “Ryan Reynolds came up with a part that I could fill.”
• To promote the movie, 20th Century Fox re-created Blu-Ray covers for 16 popular 20th Century Fox movies, with Deadpool appearing as the lead character. These include; De uitroeier (1984), Predator (1987) and Fight Club (1999). These were for sale through Walmart.
• Ryan Reynolds wrote Brad Pitt a letter pitching the idea of a cameo to him. “I just wrote him a letter, and explained what it was we were doing,” Reynolds said. “And the sort of premise behind it was how do we, what’s the most wasteful way to use the biggest movie star in the world? And it was through a character that is largely invisible and worthless throughout the movie.” He continued, saying Pitt seemed to like the idea. “And I guess Brad found that funny, we all found that funny. And he said, yes. And the next thing you know he came and shot for about seven minutes,” Reynolds added. According to screenwriter Paul Wernick, Pitt jumped at the chance to appear in Deadpool 2: “He immediately said yes,” Wernick told Heat Vision per The Hollywood Reporter. “It was a pinch-me moment.” Reynolds only had good things to say about Pitt: “He’s just such a gentleman, and such a funny, charming human being. And parenthetical the biggest movie star on earth. And that was pretty exciting for all of us.”
• Brad Pitt agreed to the small part of the Vanisher on the condition that he get a coffee as his pay on the day of shooting, also in return for scale, which is a very low number, a low low salary.
• Brad Pitt met with the director to discuss the part of Cable, but couldn’t commit due to scheduling conflicts. However, Pitt does have a small cameo in this film.
• When Vanisher is electrocuted, the close up shot lasts less than 2 seconds. Brad Pitt’s face is visible (partially or completely) on 37 frames of film. At a rate of 24 frames per second, this is a 1 ½ seconds appearance, which could make it the shortest A-list cameo in movie history.
