Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt’s onscreen dynamic in F1 mirrors their real-life bond.
“We knew each other very briefly, and then we have to create this bromance … which, with Brad Pitt, is not that difficult, if you ask me,” the Spanish actor, 56, quipped during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday, June 16.
“It’s like, ‘Okay, I get it,’ ” Bardem added of his costar’s appeal, joking of how Pitt, 61, reacted to him, “He had a harder time.”
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), F1 stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former driver “who returns to Formula 1 at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid,” per a synopsis. He costars alongside Damson Idris, who plays his teammate, and Bardem, who plays, Ruben, the owner of the team Pitt’s character Sonny drives for.
