Javier Bardem Joins Brad Pitt In Apple’s F1 Racing Movie
Javier Bardem has rounded the cast of Apple Studios’ untitled F1 pic starring Brad Pitt. The cast also includes Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies. Joseph Kosinski is set to direct.
Kosinski will produce his untitled feature alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films (Top Gun: Maverick), seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton through his Dawn Apollo banner and Plan B, with Copper CEO Penni Thow serving as executive producer.
Pitt stars as a former driver returning to the sport with fictional team APXGP, with Idris playing his teammate. Made in collaboration with F1, the movie began filming last week and over the weekend shot some of the pic at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Pitt fills an 11th garage in the Silverstone pits at the British Grand Prix
There is an 11th team in the pit lane at the British Grand Prix this weekend, with a lead driver even more globally recognisable than Lewis Hamilton. Hollywood’s Brad Pitt is testing his mettle on the circuit as recording begins for a hi-tech and big-budget production from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski.
In his new film, Pitt portrays a veteran racer who returns to F1 after decades away from the sport. Amid extensive lengths to attempt to make the film as realistic as possible, the world-famous actor is getting as close as realistically possible to racing in F1 in real life.
During breaks over the next three days, a car with unfamiliar livery is hitting the tracks. Filming includes a mixture of Pitt, his co-star, Damson Idris and a secret professional driver behind the wheel. The team was already on the track on Thursday and there will be about six more breaks during the schedule over the next three days in which the car will appear before fans.
Apple Reveals First Look at Brad Pitt’s Formula One Film
Apple Studios has revealed a first-look image from Brad Pitt’s hotly anticipated Formula One feature.
The untitled film, which also features Snowfall star Damson Idris in a lead role, is set in the world of elite motor racing. Pitt stars as a former F1 driver who returns to race for the fictional APXGP team, a middling outfit, alongside Idris’ character.
The movie is being produced in collaboration with F1 and will be shot in and around actual Grand Prix race weekends. The project is looking to tap into the current popularity of F1 racing that has been fueled by Netflix’s dramatic docuseries Drive to Survive.
