Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s Wine ‘Miraval’ Goes On Sale

There are some for whom the Virgin Wine catalogue just doesn’t quite cut it, and they’d rather create their own tipple. These people are, of course, celebrities, and the latest to join Marilyn Manson and George Clooney in the booze stakes are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Their wine from their French vineyard has gone on sale in a UK supermarket for the first time after winning rave reviews from critics.

Marks and Spencer is stocking a limited supply of the 2014 Miraval Rose and has urged those seeking a taste of Hollywood via a Provence vineyard to “get in quick”.

The £18-a-bottle wine is produced at the couple’s Chateau Miraval estate, where they married in August last year, in conjunction with the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel.

Brad Pitt has a new job

We hope this doesn’t mean you’re giving up your day job, Brad.

I’m a farmer now.

That’s Brad Pitt — actor, producer, father, partner, do-gooder — announcing yet another career shift to Wine Spectator in their June issue. The magazine sat down with Pitt at his and Angelina Jolie’s $60 million Miraval estate in Provence:

I love learning about the land and which field is most suitable for which grape, the drama of September and October: Are we picking today? Where are the sugar levels? How is the acidity? Is it going to rain? It’s been a schooling for me. In the off months, I enjoy cleaning the forest and walking the land.
(Didn’t Dubya pass the time clearing brush off his land?)

And lest you think that rose the Jolie-Pitts released last year to great acclaim was merely a lark:

What really interests me now are the reds … We envision a superb Provence red. A super Provence. Give us seven years … I asked the question, ‘Why can’t we make world-class wine in Provence?’ Let’s approach it like a film, and let’s make something we can be proud of and people can enjoy.

But don’t go thinking Miraval is your average $60 million farm:

We became impassioned with this place, which could produce its own wine, its own food, and become a place where artists could congregate and share ideas.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new wine to be sold at liquor store in Los Angeles

The first batch of Miraval Rose produced at Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s chateau in the South of France sold out within five hours of going on sale online last week, but fans of Wally’s Wine & Spirits in West Los Angeles can get in on a shipment due in May.

Up to six bottles, at $24.99 each, can be ordered from the store –thanks to what Wally’s calls its “special relationships with the parties involved.”

“Sales have been definitely brisk to say the least,” Wally’s owner, Christian Navarro, said.

Most orders have been for the six-bottle limit, and several customers have asked for more, he said.

Navarro said he estimated that more than 500 bottles were sold this morning alone. His loyal customers on an email list got first dibs.

“It’s a fantastic product,” he said, adding that it would be a big seller even without its celebrity appeal.

Navarro said Pitt and Jolie shop at Wally’s when in town, and they “want to make it into a real product — an estate wine.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Wine Sells Out in Five Hours

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie might have a little bit more to learn about supply and demand.

The engaged couple’s Miraval Rosé 2012 wine completely sold out all 6,000 bottles in five hours on Thursday, the first day it was available online. “The sale started at 9 a.m., and all the bottles were sold out by 2 p.m.,” Vitabella, the public relations firm representing the Jolie-Pitt’s vineyard, said in a statement.

Miraval Rosé 2012 was available as a six-bottle case for $139.

Later this month, it will be back on sale, but this time for wholesalers and restaurants. It’s unclear as of now if the rosé will once again be available for the general public, but given the great demand for it, the Hollywood stars and their business partner, winemaker Marc Perrin, would have to be crazy not to cash in.

Piggybacking on the sweet success of their rosé, Pitt and Jolie’s Château Miraval plans to roll out a white wine later this summer and a few different reds throughout 2014.
