A trailer for the highly anticipated adaptation of Kōtarō Isaka’s novel Bullet Train may be mere days away. Collider stumbled across a soon-to-be viral ad campaign narrated by the film’s star Brad Pitt teasing a “truly unforgettable experience” that is set to arrive on March 2.
The ad is hosted on a brand-new Instagram account and YouTube channel created for the Nippon Speed Line bullet train. Both social media accounts link to a website created for the fictional bullet train. Careful investigation of the website reveals that it’s operated by “CTMG” which is better known as the Columbia Tristar Marketing Group, the company that handles marketing for Columbia Pictures—the studio behind Bullet Train.
King also shot David Leitch’s action assassin movie “Bullet Train,” opposite Brad Pitt, during the pandemic. “I’ve been in this industry for 18 years, but this project made me feel like … I grew up in Los Angeles, [but] I felt like I had just moved here because I was like, ‘Wow, this is the epitome of Hollywood. I’m working with David Leitch on an action movie, shot at the Sony lot, about assassins, with Brad Pitt, and I can see the Hollywood sign on my way to work,” she recalls.
She admits to feeling like a “fish out of water,” but she says Pitt and Leitch assured her she was in the right place: “They were like, ‘No, you are totally capable of being here and we want you here and you’re great. And I’m like, ‘Me? Are you sure?’ It was amazing because, along with feeling overwhelmed and excited and nervous about it, I just had the greatest people say, ‘No, you belong here.’”
Sony has moved its David Leitch directed Brad Pitt action movie Bullet Train and Hello Sunshine and 3000 Pictures production Where the Crawdads Sing to July, respectively July 15 and July 22.
Bullet Train was previously scheduled on April 8 next year, while Crawdads was on June 24.
Bullet Train travels away from a weekend where it was squaring off with Paramount’s event feature Sonic The Hedgehog 2 to a weekend where there aren’t any major studio films scheduled. The Leitch movie will be booked on premium large format screens.
