Into Film – the UK film charity – has a great interview from the Fury premiere, including with Brad Pitt to share. The interview was conducted by 17-year-old Josh, a teenage member of the charity who is part of our Talent Development programme, which enables children and young people the chance to develop their passion for film and take part in film industry events.

Thank you Charlie of Into Film for sending me this link. Great programme that SimplyBrad.com will of course support! Good job Josh.

This weekend, Brad Pitt’s Fury is not just the box office number one movie making $23.5 million. The film about the World War II tank crew’s last offensive against the waning Nazi forces in 1945 was also a teachable moment for Pitt’s son Maddox.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the actor talked about his eldest son’s reaction to watching the film.

“He’s a bit of a World War II buff so it’s interesting for him, I think, but it’s still dad so it’s not that cool.”

It was important to Pitt to explain the reality of war to his kid. “The younger generation play a lot of video games and I want them to understand that there is casualty, you don’t just reboot. There are real consequences and real stakes so we talked a lot about that.”

Fury dislodged Gone Girl after a few solid weeks at number one. The psychological thriller starring Ben Affleck takes second this weekend at $17.8 million — which adds up to over $100 million total gross in just three weeks.

While Pitt was working on Fury, his wife Angelina Jolie was also working on a World War II film, Unbroken, out in December.

Pitt told the AP that they were learning together. “I was studying the European theatre, she was studying Pacific theatre. I was studying tanks, she was studying bombers. and yeah It was good fun for us.”

Brad Pitt stars as Sergeant Don ‘Wardaddy’ Collins in Fury. The actor says he’s “comfortable” letting his 13-year-old son, Maddox, see the movie despite its grisly depiction of war battle because he can handle the content.

While the World War II drama Fury depicts a gruesome look at war through the exploits of a tank crew in Nazi Germany, Brad Pitt feels his 13-year old son, Maddox, can handle the content.

“He’s a World War II buff,” Pitt told The Associated Press on Wednesday night on the red carpet for the film’s world premiere.

‘The world is a beautiful place, but it’s also a very violent place. We talk about it afterward, so I’m not so opposed’

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s six children played a large role in their parents’ recent wedding – after all, it was the kids who urged them to get married and even penned the couple’s vows.

So how are Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and 6-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox enjoying their mom and dad being husband and wife?

“They like it,” Pitt told PEOPLE at the world premiere of his new movie Fury in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, pausing thoughtfully and smiling. “They like it.”

Pitt spent time with members of the military, including retired WWII veterans, at the patriotic premiere. He also got plenty of face time with his costars while making the war movie; Navy SEALs put the cast through boot camp to prepare them for their roles.

“It was actually very complex. It wasn’t like, dig a foxhole and you’re done,” director David Ayer told PEOPLE on the red carpet. “It was engineered to break them down and then build them up as a team. Once they came out of that, they were glowing. They had this incredible chemistry together and I was a bit jealous because I hadn’t shared in that experience and was now an outsider.”

One insider, 22-year-old Logan Lerman (who played Charlie in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and the youngest team member on the tank crew in Fury) had an intimate task assigned to him during boot camp.

In an effort to keep the men sleep-deprived, they took turns staying awake on watch each night. Because Logan’s rank was at the bottom of the list, he had a very senior member of the group behind him.

“We each had to wake the next person, and the next person was Brad for me,” Lerman told PEOPLE. “So I had to be the guy to wake Brad Pitt up.”

So, how did that go?
