Brad Pitt doesn’t give interviews often, and when he does, they tend to happen in strange and impromptu places. Like this poolhouse, on a property that belongs to neither of us, not too far outside Pasadena. By necessity and inclination, Pitt likes to present a moving target, and so he spends a lot of time passing through spaces like this one, spaces that are convenient to something else he’s doing and that once he leaves, he’ll likely never see again. He’s Brad Pitt, though: With him comes an atmosphere, his own weather, a heightened kind of reality that involves everyone in the vicinity looking directly at him until he’s gone. Despite that—or, maybe at this point, because of it—he’s learned to be comfortable, at ease, just about anywhere. Anyway, picture a room we’re both strangers to. That’s where Brad Pitt and I talk.

Leonardo DiCaprio prefers pupusas over tacos

We don’t usually care or cover celebrity gossip, but that all changes when someone as prominent as Leonardo DiCaprio voices his opinion that he prefers pupusas over tacos.

“I’m a pupusa man myself,” he proclaimed during an interview on Univision in anticipation of his upcoming summer blockbuster directed by Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Then, to add salt to the wound, he adds, “[They’re] better than tacos.” He was next to Brad Pitt, who added, “I mean, there are competitions here about who has the best taco [in L.A.]” Tarantino responds to Brad’s comment and recommends, “Yuca’s,” an old L.A. Taco favorite and the first Mexican restaurant in L.A. to win a James Beard Award in the “America’s Classics” category in 1998.

We will take that as a compliment, Brad, for our tenth year doing that exact taco competition that you are referring to: Taco Madness. Thank you.

Now This PSA

“Please, make your voice heard,” the co-stars of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ tell viewers.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt have added their voices to the chorus of celebrity PSAs encouraging Americans to vote Tuesday.

The co-stars of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood on Friday released a PSA produced by NowThis Politics on DiCaprio’s Facebook page explaining the issues that will be decided Nov. 6.

“The future of our country will be decided this week. Elections don’t just matter when voting for president. This election might be the most consequential of our lifetime,” DiCaprio says in the video, citing issues like gun safety laws, clean water and air, immigration policy and health care.

Pitt, seated next to him, adds that the elections will determine the future of climate change, criminal justice reform, education funding, LGBTQ equality and voting rights. “We urge you to go to the polls by Nov. 6 and make your voice heard,” Pitt says. He additionally suggests viewers encourage voter turnout by volunteering at phone banks, texting and canvassing.

The two stars then tell viewers to visit TheLastWeekend.org to see how they can help.

At the end of an informational segment about what votes for this year’s midterms could decide, DiCaprio adds, “We the voters have the power to decide all of this.”

“And it starts now,” Pitt says, mentioning early voting. “Please, make your voice heard.”
