Academy Awards 2021

On Sunday, Brad Pitt presented the award for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2021 Oscars. Amanda Seyfried, Youn Yuh-jung, Glenn Close, Maria Bakalova and Olivia Colman were nominated for the high honor, but Yuh-jung took home the trophy for her role in ‘Minari.’

One of the most “stars are just like us” moments at Sunday’s Academy Awards happened while Yuh-jung Youn was on stage becoming a winner among them.

“Mr. Brad Pitt, finally. It’s nice to meet you,” she said to crowd laughs after being presented the award for best supporting actress by Pitt, last year’s winner for best supporting actor. “Where were you while we were filming? It’s an honor to meet you.”
Youn, who won for her role in “Minari,” chalked up her reaction backstage to being star-struck. She’s been a longtime fan, she said, and “maybe I blacked out a couple of seconds.”

Yuh-Jung Youn on the ‘Impossible Dream’ of Working Again with ‘Minari’ Exec Producer Brad Pitt

Youn met “Minari” executive producer Pitt for the first time during the Oscars ceremony on Sunday night.

Youn was also asked backstage about collaborating with “Minari” Plan B executive producer Brad Pitt, whom she met for the first time on Sunday night during the Oscars show, and what kind of film she’d want to next team with him on. “It will never happen with my English. I don’t dream [an] impossible dream. I don’t think so,” she said. “No answer.”
