Felix van Groeningen (The Broken Circle Breakdown) is to direct Beautiful Boy, an American feature produced by New Regency and Brad Pitt’s Plan B. Van Groeningen is currently finishing post-production on his fifth feature, Belgica, which is scheduled for an early 2016 release.
Based on the book ‘Beautiful Boy: A Fathers’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction’ by David Sheff and ‘Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines’ by his son Nic, it is a story of meth addiction and recovery seen through the eyes of a father as he watches his son struggle with the disease.
Brad Pitt is producing Beautiful Boy through his production company Plan B, together with New Regency, which has recently been responsible for such films as Birdman and Gone Girl. Luke Davies (Candy, Life) is currently working on the script; no cast names have been announced so far.
